From electronic recycling campaigns and eco-markets to repurposing new or gently used products or taking public transit, there are tons of ways to get involved and give back to the planet this week.

Free BC Transit Rides | Tuesday | All day

Go car-free this Earth Day. All BC Transit routes in Greater Victoria will be free today to encourage sustainable travel across the region.

Upcycled by ReImagine Westshore | Tues to Sat | 10am-6pm

Browse a curated market of gently used and upcycled goods at Westshore Town Centre—plus an upcycled art show, information about sustainable living, and a tomato-plant challenge.

Earth Day Repurposing Campaign | April 22–May 22 | Daily 10am–4:30pm

Donate new or gently used hygiene products—like deodorant, toothpaste, or shampoo—to support Soap for Hope Canada’s month-long campaign. Drop-off locations include their William Street warehouse, Saje Wellness at Mayfair Mall, Canadian Tire at Hillside Mall, and Tillicum Centre. Your donations help reduce waste and support those in need.

Compost Education Centre and LifeCycles Project | Tuesday | 10:30am-12:30pm

Chat with the Compost Education Centre and LifeCycles Project at Esquimalt Rec Centre. Learn about composting, growing food, and how to get involved in fruit tree gleaning and local food rescue. 

Porcher Park Opening Celebration | Tuesday | 11am

Join the City of Langford Council and Urban Food Resilience for the grand opening of Porcher Park at 822 Wren Place. Explore new garden plots, enjoy light refreshments, and take home free seeds. Don’t miss the ceremonial tree planting.

Metchosin Ocean Art Walk | Tuesday | 11am
Celebrate Earth Day with a guided art walk from the Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre to Witty’s Lagoon. Experience the community created installation Ocean Art: FLOW, reflecting on water’s journey from land to sea. This collaborative project honours local waters through art and ecology.

ERA Electronic Recycling Pop-Up | Tuesday | 12-4pm

Drop off old electronics—from laptops and phones to printers and stereo gear—for secure recycling with the Electronic Recycling Association at Archie Browning Sports Centre. Their mobile shredder ensures your data stays safe. 

Earth Day Invasive Plant Removal (Youth Activity) | Tuesday | 8:45am and 10am

Join the Greater Victoria Green Team at UVic to help remove invasive English ivy and invasive plants.

Earth Day Litter Clean: Colwood | Tuesday | 1-3pm

Join Colwood's PICK (Promoting Involvement for Community Kleanup) to clear litter along Sooke Road. Meetup is at the Aldeane intersection; cleanup spans both directions up to Colwood’s welcome sign and the Metchosin intersection.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Donation Station | Saturday | 9am-1:30pm

Donate clothing, household goods, and small furniture to support youth mentorship and keep usable items out of the landfill. All proceeds from your donations go toward local mentoring programs.

Sooke Earth Day Celebration | Saturday | 10am–2pm

Celebrate sustainability and community at the greenspace beside Fire Station One (2225 Otter Point Rd.). Enjoy exhibits and hands-on activities. Explore the Sooke Country Market and connect with organizations like Transition Sooke, Wild Wise Society, and BC Transit.

Earth Day Celebration at Oak Haven Park | Saturday | 10am

Join Habitat Acquisition Trust at Oak Haven Park for a spring wildflower tour through the park. The community will come together to help remove invasive plant species from the park’s rare and endangered Garry oak ecosystem with the Friends of Oak Haven Park. [Free]

Climate Talk, Park Cleanup & Silent Disco | Saturday | 4-7pm

Celebrate Earth Day at Banfield Park with a climate talk and hands-on cleanup, and a silent disco party to close the day. 

Streams & societies silent migration online auction fundraiser | Until Sunday

Bid on marine adventures, Alaska cruises, mushroom tours, cutting boards, watercolours, and more. Then join the Smolt Soirée on Saturday at 5pm, a spring celebration marking the conclusion of the Silent Migration Online Auction and the annual spring outmigration of smolts.
